Transform with Courage BootCamp Graduates Fundraiser - Strengthening Action for Family Empowerment through Livelihood Training (Project SAFE)

This fundraiser is initiated by Transform with Courage Bootcamp Graduates, a Women's community that provides a safe environment to learn, share and experience transformation & breakthroughs. In support of vulnerable girls, they seek to bring about this opportunity for transformation and a path of livelihood to out-of-school girls at risks of exploitation through this fundraiser.  

Project Background: 

Despite its proximity to commercial hubs, Cordova in Cebu, Philippines faces significant socio-economic challenges, including poverty, inadequate infrastructure, and limited access to essential support services. Most of the community being served by this project are living in the urban-poor slum areas of Cordova, where there is limited access to sanitation, clean water and stable electricity.

The area is also increasingly affected by the negative effects of migration, tourism, and unregulated economic activities that perpetuate a cycle of exploitation, especially among children. 

Project Goal: 

To equip out-of-school girls aged 15-25 with tailoring skills and entrepreneurial knowledge, enabling them to generate revenue and improve household resilience, reducing risk of child sexual exploitation.

Project Activities:   

• World Vision will collaborate with the local community leaders to identify out-of-school girls most at risks and reach out to the families to send the girls for this vocational skills training programme.
• Training will be provided with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. 
• Girls will be trained in budgeting, cash flow and debt management. 
• Each girl will be provided with a sewing machine and the start up fabric and sewing tools upon graduation from the training programme. 
• Savings groups will be formed to facilitate each member to save small amounts securely within the group and form a pool of funds that will enable members to tap on the funds for emergencies and for investing in livelihood development. The savings groups will enable group members to develop a savings mindset and build their long-term financial resilience.
