Clean Water and Sanitation
TOGETHER, WE CAN GIVE ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER FOR ALL CHILDREN
An estimated 2.1 billion people including 634 million children worldwide lack access to safely managed drinking water, including 106 million who rely on rivers, lakes and oher untreated water sources.
For children under age 5, consuming unsafe water is a leading cause of death, with over 1,300 children dying every day globally from water and sanitation related diseases. Women and children often walk more than 6 km daily to collect water. Each trip typically invovles carrying over 9 litres of unclean water which leads to serious health risks, including water-borne diseases.
