A little girl dreams of a brighter future, she dreams of a time when she can flap her wings and soar to greater heights, but circumstances in her community gives her little reason to hold on to hope for a better tomorrow.
Antique is a province located in the western portion of Panay Island, which is in the Western Visayas region. World Vision started its opertions in Antique province in 1984 through a church partner. Over the years, the scope of work expanded and transited into longer term development programmes. Currently, World Vision Singapore is supporting the area through child sponsorship programmes and will be there for up to 15 years to uplift the children and the community.
Nearly a quarter of the world's youth are neither employed, in school nor in training. In Philippines, youth make up more than half of the unemployed. For many, there is little reason to hold on to hope for a better tomorrow. To reduce the vulnerability if children, World Vision works with the relevant stakeholders to improve functional literacy and numeracy and promote child protection. Youths and children undergo essential life skills development activities to nurture them in critical thinking, decision making and self-awareness.
Women of Vision is embarking on a 3-year journey from 2019-2021 to work together with World Vision and the community leaders to create access to quality education and life skills development for 300 beneficiaries. Through the eyes of 38 selected girls in Antique, Women of Vision will journey with them.
We invite you to an afternoon of inspirational stories, meaningful conversations and performances over high tea.
Join us as we strive to create promising futures for these vulnerable girls by empowering them to rise above poverty and their circumstances! We look forward to seeing you there!
